DAILY DOSE: Delight

Delight
Sivan 14, 5772 · June 4, 2012

"Nothing is higher than delight," says the ancient Book of Formation.

All of our desires, musings and conniving, our every word and all we do emerge from our sense of beauty, of pleasure, our obsessive persistence for the most elegant and most delightful.

As in man, the microcosm, so in the creation: All that exists emerges from the delight of its Creator, and the essence of each thing—from a tiny ant to a distant galaxy, a human emotion to a wave crashing against the seashore—is the delight the Creator takes from it.

The key then, is to uncover the delight hidden within each thing.

When we use each thing for the purpose for which it was created, guided by the wisdom of the Torah, then the Creator's delight shines through, merging all together as a single whole, a magnificent symphony in exquisite harmony.
